Since there is some talk about Pixiv artists getting PO’d about barbarian foreigners sharing their work without permission, I thought I’d just post this.
Pixiv has a sharing function. It exists so that you can post pixiv artist’s work on your blog. However a pixiv user can turn it off, and when it’s off I think we can gather that that means they do not want you to share their work.
Very few artists on pixiv turn sharing off. In the first few pages of my pixiv faves I only found one artist who had disabled sharing. But because it is an opt out feature, it means those who turn it off have gone out of their way to turn it off and you should respect their choice to not share their work.
You can find the sharing stuff under the image. The first box contains script for a link. The second box contains an “attach script” for posting the image on your blog along with the title and artists name, and links to the piece and the artist’s page.
When you click on the “view attach sample” you’ll get this:
If you use that script - that’s what you get on your blog. You have every right to use this script, every right to share this work. That’s just part of what pixiv is about. If an artist can’t deal with that they shouldn’t have signed up in the first place - or they should turn it off.
When an artist has sharing disabled you’ll see this:
Notice only the link script is there. You do not have permission to post the work on your blog. So don’t. They don’t want you to distribute their work. If you want others to see their work they’re going to have to see it on pixiv or not at all.
If you’re wondering the piece I used in this demonstration for sharing is 切 by u283
Hope that helps keep you all from stepping on toes as you use the internet.
